Tutors For Less History
Tutors For Less was founded in 2004 by three school principals with the goal of bringing the same values and caring approach found in schools to the tutoring industry. We aim to maintain a high-quality standard in tutoring, providing both home and online support across Canada
High Standards
Our mission is to ensure your success as a tutor with our agency. To achieve this, we have a thorough screening process to confirm your confidence in the subjects or courses you wish to teach. Additionally, we offer subject-specific resources and a tutoring handbook crafted by experienced and certified teachers.
Certified Teachers
Not all of our tutors may aspire to become certified teachers. However, they all share a passion for helping students succeed and excel. If you do aspire to become a certified teacher, tutoring is an excellent step toward achieving that goal.
Required Skills
As a tutor, you should be…
- caring and patient
- a self-starter
- passionate about helping students
- previous experience working with young children or teenagers is an asset but not required
- comfortable teaching students in the subject area that you are comfortable
- have a good command of the English language or French language if teaching French
Qualifications
You must be one of the following:
- university student
- university graduate
- Masters graduate
- PhD graduate
- College graduate ( If you are bilingual in French teaching elementary students in French)
- Teacher certification is an asset but not required
Tutoring Work Environment
- Flexible tutoring schedule ( you choose your own schedule)
- Long-term students
- 2 – 10 hours a week,
- Supportive and experienced staff that can help you not only for tutoring positions but to guide you to apply for teachers college and land a teaching position in one of our school boards
